Terms of Use

The ground rules for using CV One — in plain English.

Last updated: 5 October 2026

Introduction

These terms apply to your use of CV One, which is operated by Ben Marcus, trading as CV One ("we", "us"). By using the service you agree to them. They don't affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

What CV One is

CV One is a CV analysis and career-application assistance tool. It is not an employment agency or recruiter, does not give legal or careers advice, and does not guarantee employment.

Eligibility

CV One is not intended for anyone under 16. You must be 16 or over to create an account. This is our own eligibility rule.

Accounts

Please give accurate information when you sign up and keep your sign-in details secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.

Your CV and content

You own the CV content, job descriptions and answers you provide. You give us permission to process that content only to provide the service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You're responsible for making sure your CV is accurate and that you have the right to use what you upload.

AI-generated suggestions

CV Health scores, recommendations and rewrites are generated with AI and are guidance only. CV One is designed not to add facts you haven't provided, but AI can still make mistakes.

You remain responsible for reviewing your CV and making sure everything in it is true before you use it. You can apply, edit or reject every suggestion.

Acceptable use

  • Don't use CV One to create false or misleading CVs or to impersonate others.
  • Don't attempt to bypass plan limits, rate limits or security measures.
  • Don't upload unlawful content or content you don't have the right to share.
  • Don't interfere with or overload the service.

Free and Premium

The Free plan includes CV Health analysis, two AI improvement applications, the Clarity template and one saved CV. Premium unlocks unlimited improvements, job-description matching, all templates and themes, unlimited saved CVs and Word exports. Current details are on the Pricing page.

Subscriptions and billing

Premium costs £9.99 a month, is billed through Stripe and renews monthly until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Account to stop future renewals. When you cancel, you normally keep Premium until the end of the billing period you've already paid for.

Premium fair use

Premium includes substantial use of CV One's AI features. To protect the service from excessive or automated use, CV One may apply reasonable usage limits to AI-intensive features.

If your AI usage in a billing period is particularly heavy, AI features may be temporarily restricted until your next billing period begins. You'll be told in the app when this happens and when AI access is expected to resume. You will normally still be able to use the non-AI parts of the service, including your saved CVs, editing, design options, exports and account management. We will never charge you extra for reaching a limit.

We may adjust these limits as the service and its costs change. This doesn't affect your rights to cancel or to a refund described below, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Refunds

  • We'll give refunds wherever applicable consumer law requires it.
  • Duplicate or mistaken charges will be refunded.
  • If CV One has a substantial service failure that we can't reasonably fix, we may offer an appropriate refund or credit.
  • Otherwise, completed billing periods aren't automatically refunded just because the service wasn't used.

Exports

You can export your CV as a PDF, and Premium users can also export editable Word documents. Exported files are yours to use. Please check them before sending.

Intellectual property

CV One's software, design, templates and branding belong to us. You may use templates to create and share your own CV, but not to resell or redistribute them.

Service availability

We aim to keep CV One available and working well, but can't guarantee uninterrupted access. Features may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control.

No guarantee of results

CV One does not guarantee interviews, applicant tracking system results, applications, job offers or employment. Scores and suggestions are guidance to help you improve your CV.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that can't legally be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to that, we're not liable for losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses. Our total liability to you in connection with CV One is limited to £100.

This cap does not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded, does not limit your statutory rights as a consumer, does not override applicable consumer protection legislation, and does not attempt to exclude liability for anything the law does not allow us to exclude.

Changes

We may change features and update these terms. If changes significantly affect paying users, we'll aim to give notice before they take effect. The Last updated date at the top of this page shows when they were most recently revised.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you keep any mandatory protections of your local law and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
